OPEN AUDITIONS FOR The Granite Playwrights production of

 

The Great Atlantic and Pacific Shakespeare Company by Alan Lindsay. It is the story of a dysfunctional troupe of actors in the American Midwest. They are trying to hold the company together and rescue their small theater from bankruptcy by putting on an ambitious festival of five plays in five days.

 

Performance dates: August 19-28, 2022

 

Venue: Hatbox Theatre, Concord NH

 

Audition date: April 9, 2:00-5:00 at Cranmore Ridge Condominiums in Concord

 

Actors needed for

 

ROSE, a woman in her forties or fifties. She perhaps overvalues her brief moment on a Broadway stage. A confident, fading beauty.

 

BIRON, a man in his late forties or fifties, Rose’s adulterous lover, racked with guilt over the death of his wife.

 

MARK, man in his thirties, always passed over for the lead, a little bitter about it.

 

CLEO, a woman in her thirties, she uses the theater to spend time away from her bad marriage.

 

PAULA, a woman in her twenties, scholarly, self-assured.

 

NATE, a man in his twenties. Ambitious but not all that bright. Pretty.

 

HENRY, the overwrought director.

 

CHRISTOPHER SYLMAN, a slimy lawyer. Male.

 

BROTHER RENE, a religious man with a quirky theology.

 

Directions: From Rte. 93—take the 393E exit (Portsmouth/Rte. 4). Go up to Exit 2 (East Side Drive). At the end of the ramp take a right onto East Side Drive. Go over the overpass and see the second left (Broken Ground Drive). Take a right and drive to the end of the street. Look left and see 169 Portsmouth Street Cranmore Ridge. As you enter Cranmore Ridge drive up to the second left turn. Take the turn and you will see a Clubhouse on your right. Park in the Parking Lot and enter the front door.
